Otto`s Original - Quality products since 1901

Traditional
quality promise

The name “Emil Otto” has been synonymous with the highest quality since 1901. As an owner-managed company in the fifth generation, we have dedicated ourselves to the development and manufacture of high-quality products for electronics manufacturing, metal processing and the solar industry. Our products are used by market leaders at home and abroad.

Customer-oriented

Reliable products and high customer orientation have become our hallmark over the years. Our production is carried out according to the most modern standards, and our quality and environmental management has been certified for many years. We fulfil all customer specifications and respond flexibly to customer requests. Special products or product adaptations are developed and implemented in cooperation equipment manufacturers and institutes.

Constant
quality investment

In order to permanently deliver consistent quality, Emil Otto continuously invests in its product development. A high level of chemical know-how, the many years of experience of our employees and a high level of customer orientation guarantee you products of the highest quality.

Let us convince you of our products, our many years of experience and our customer service.

Innovation leader

To be an innovative leader in fluxes, you have to know the markets perfectly; only then can a company develop innovative solutions for existing challenges on the customer side. This applies not only to specialty products, but also to products in different application areas, such as Emil Otto’s fluxes. These can be used in electronics manufacturing, metal processing and in the solar industry.

In the mechanical connection and electrical contacting of solar cells to solar modules, the requirements are very similar compared to contacting in the electronics industry. Emil Otto’s products are high-performance alternatives to established fluxes that no longer fulfil the current requirements of the solar industry in areas such as process efficiency, purchasing costs, defect reduction and minimization of ancillary production costs. These quality fluxes, which can be used across industries, are only available from the innovation leader.

Supply guarantor

There is a saying that unusual times call for unusual measures. Is it therefore unusual to continue to be able to deliver reliably in times of pandemic, high energy costs, economic uncertainty and global crises and the accompanying declining resources on the raw material markets? Or should this be taken for granted as standard? In the context of customer orientation, this is a matter of course for Emil Otto. After all, Emil Otto’s customers trust that they will be supplied reliably and on time to keep their own production running. Emil Otto assumes this responsibility and is therefore a supply guarantor for all customers and industries.

Product innovator

Emil Otto is partly worldwide unrivalled, for some products are only developed, manufactured and distributed by Emil Otto. Whether it is water- and alcohol-based fluxes with a uniform activator system to avoid cross-reactions, flux concentrates or etching solutions for titanium applications in metal processing, Emil Otto is fully committed to this philosophy of innovation. The prerequisite for this is being open to customers and their industry, recognizing problems, evaluating customer challenges and developing a solution for the customer and thus often for an entire industry. This also involves breaking new ground in product development and never giving up, but rather solving the challenges and meeting customer needs as a product innovator.

Process stabilizer

A manufacturing process is only as stable as its weakest link. That is why Emil Otto is also working on special flux solutions to stabilize every soldering process in electronics manufacturing and make it more reliable. A good example of this is the Flux-Cover, which is used to coat the surfaces of component connections and provides reliable, solderable protection. Especially for components that are difficult to wet, such as THT components with nickel-brass pins, the Flux-Cover ensures a good soldering result. The application for coating component terminals is done by dipping the terminals into the Flux-Cover. The subsequent wave soldering process can be carried out as usual, which means that the selected parameters generally do not need to be changed. The Flux-Cover is compatible with all Emil Otto fluxes. A good example of why Emil Otto is a process stabilizer.

Process minimizer

Emil Otto’s goal is to minimize processes on the customer side. Thus, Emil Otto offers no-clean fluxes that do not require any subsequent cleaning process. We achieve this by paying attention to high-quality preliminary products when purchasing materials, which avoid subsequent cleaning processes due to their quality. But good precursors are only half the battle, because it is only through our own manufacturing and our own in-house testing procedures that we can develop and offer fluxes of the highest quality. This means that these fluxes lead to the best soldering results, which also minimizes subsequent rework on the assembly. That is why we are a process minimizer, because our customers can do without or reduce individual process steps in their production.

Process guarantor

Emil Otto ensures that its customers’ processes work even in economically strained times. By developing a range of water-based fluxes, we are now able to supply alternatives to alcohol-based fluxes.

We are also aware that switching to a different flux, regardless of the base starting material, always means effort on the customer’s part, up to and including new audits and certifications. We actively support our customers in this process and help them to convert their soldering systems. We stand by with advice and support.

Our water-based fluxes of the Green Line series run on all common spray flux and selective soldering systems. The soldering results are as good as with alcohol-based fluxes. Furthermore, the water-based fluxes have the following, additional added values:

No alcoholIndependence from market prices and supply chains
No alcoholno hazardous material
no hazardous goodseasy transport
Easy transportlower transport costs
No hazardous goodseasier storage
Easier storagelower storage costs
Consumption reduction of approx. 30%

lower consumption = cost savings

This has made us a process guarantor, because we have alternatives in our portfolio that will keep your electronics production running even in difficult times.

Reliability improver

Emil Otto invests a lot of time to develop the best products for demanding tasks in its own laboratory. Because only reliable consumables guarantee reliable end products. Many of our customers manufacture end products that are relevant to safety, such as brakes, drives, camera systems, sensor systems and automation solutions. For these systems, reliability is paramount. That is why we are constantly working on new, even better solutions in our laboratory. In doing so, we draw on the know-how of our chemists today as well as on the formulations and experience we have gained in more than 100 years of company history.

These capabilities make us a reliability improver, and our customers and their product reliability benefit from this endeavor.

Quality maximizer

Due to our development work, the materials used, the careful production at our premises as well as centuries of experience, Emil Otto can offer high-quality products. This product philosophy determines our daily actions, because our customers expect this from us. It also means that we work with partners who share the same philosophy.

Because of this orientation and these partnerships, we are a quality maximizer for our customers.

Cost reducer

Less rework, completely eliminated or reduced cleaning processes, and our Multiflux range of fluxes, which can be used for wave and selective soldering, hand and repair soldering, and dip soldering, reduce our customers’ manufacturing costs. The same applies to our water-based fluxes or concentrates, which minimize transport and storage costs because they are not hazardous materials. Emil Otto is always interested in keeping costs as low as possible for its customers.

That is why we are a cost reducer who, due to our innovations, our flexible research and development and due to our high chemical knowledge, always finds new saving solutions for our customers.
