The new flux gels EO-S-002, -007 and -009 have been developed for the use in the production of solar modules. The gels are based on the same fluxes that have been specifically developed for the solar industry, in particular for soldering solar modules, tabber and stringer material and connecting cells, and therefore have the same activators.
Flux gels are generally used for rework and re-soldering. In the past, it was often necessary to use fluxes for manual and rework soldering. However, these contained different activators to those used for series production. Thanks to the uniform activators of the Emil Otto flux gels, cross-reactions that can occur when using different activators from different products can now be avoided. Additionally, the new solar flux gels EO-S-002, -007 and -009 are particularly designed for soldering on tin-copper metallization.
‘In the production of solar modules, this metallization is becoming more and more important and will replace the previous tin-silver metallization. We at Emil Otto are responding to this and are already offering the ideal product for this development. The new flux gels we developed are based on the same activators that we use in the previous solar fluxes SOLAR FLUX-EO-S-002, -007 and -009. This allows us to avoid unintended cross-reactions,” continues Geßner. All gels are non-corrosive flux gels.’
Markus Geßner, Marketing and Sales Manager at Emil Otto GmbH
FLUX GEL EO-S-002, -007and -009 are highly concentrated and are characterized by high activity, good wetting and spreadability. Due to these properties, the gel should be applied carefully. The gel is applied from a dosing syringe using metal dosing needles. These enable precise and economical application and positioning of the flux. Flux gels can be processed using hot air or soldering irons, reflow, immersion tinning and many other methods.
The basic fluxes are established fluxes that are used in the production of solar modules worldwide. SOLAR FLUX EO-S-002 is a no-clean flux that is formulated to be halogen-free. It leaves no coloring or sticky residues. The activators are specially designed for higher temperatures, which are required in the production of solar modules, without impairing their effectiveness. The same applies to SOLAR FLUX EO-S-007 and -009
‘We are therefore the only manufacturer in the world to offer ready-to-use fluxes and the associated flux gels on an activator basis for solar production.’
Markus Geßner
